2018 Belize Family Adventure

January 1st - 8th, 2018



Embark on a journey of discovery with your children. Come join Earth Lion Expeditions in the land of the Maya for a family adventure; Let your children experience the way of life of a small rural community with few amenities, where children run around barefoot playing soccer.  Engage with the local community, learn first-hand about the folklore, ceremonial practices and archeology of the ancient Maya.  Hike the jungle looking for howler monkeys, climb Mayan temples, tube through caves, which the Maya considered entrances to the underworld. Snorkel the 2nd largest barrier reef and have time to relax and recharge as a family.

 

 

Belize Family Trip

Itinerary:

Day 1, Jan 1: Flight from the US to Belize. Pick up and transfer via private charter bus and boat to Indian Church Village. Settle into your guest house room. Dinner. Night Spotlight safari.

Day 2: After a delicious local breakfast we have a private guided tour of the Maya ruins of Lamanai, optional stop at the sugar mill. Afternoon time to play with the kids and engage in the community. Night: Mayan Folklore.

 

Day 3: Optional sunrise on temple for adults (and older kids, have sitter for others), followed by bird and monkey observation.  After breakfast learn about ancient Mayan cooking and farming. This activity is a hands on experience for the entire family. In the afternoon we have time to play at the lagoon, engage with the community in the school, playing soccer or have a workshop at the library.  We also have the option to visit the community of San Carlos.

 

Day 4: Early transfer to Cave tubing at Jaguar Paw. Then check into your jungle cabana, have time to play by the river, canoe and relax in your hammock.  Could also do a stop at Belize zoo if desired.

 

Day 5:  We take our bus to the ferry terminal in Belize city and transfer via ferry to the charming island of Ambergis Caye, which Madonna called “La Isla Bonita.” We check into our condos and have time in the afternoon to relax by the pool.

 

Day 6: Private guided snorkel to Hol Chan Marine Reserve followed by a lunch. Afternoon to relax by the pool and beach or explore the island via golf cart.

 

Day 7: Day to snorkel, kayak, dive (can pre book). Fare well dinner.

 

Day 8: Ferry back to Belize city to board or flight to Miami.

Climbing Horizons Cancellation Policy

I. Cancellation of a Tour by a Client - Any cancellation must be made in writing and will be acknowledged by Climbing Horizons in writing. The date on which the request to cancel is received by the company will determine the cancellation fees applicable. The cancellation fees are expressed in percentages of the total tour price: Cancellation 90 days or more prior to departure date: Deposit held. Cancellation 60 days before departure: no refund of any services booked, due to the travel market in Belize, which requires paying vendors early. II. Unused Services There will be no discount or monies refunded for missed or unused services, this includes voluntary or involuntary termination/departure from tour, i.e. sickness, death of a family member etc, late arrival on the tour, or premature departure either voluntarily or involuntarily. III. Cancellation by the Company - The company will not cancel a tour once a booking is confirmed (i.e at least a deposit is made), except for conditions outside of the control of the company. When a tour is cancelled before the agreed departure date for any reason, other than the fault of the client, the client can: 1. Take a substitute tour of equal value 2. Take a substitute tour of lesser value and have the difference in prize be reimbursed 3. Have all monies paid refunded. INSURANCE - We strongly encourage you to purchase travel insurance and will be happy to help you buy.

Included activities: Full day cave adventure, guided tour of Mayan ruins, cave tubing, canoe tour, kayaking, guided snorkels on the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world, jungle walk, night spotlight safari, Mayan Folklore, most meals, all rooms, private bus charter transfer, private boat transfer, water taxi to island, transfer from port to resort. Community fee (yes your trip will help give back to the children and residents of Indian Church Village).
